Two more vehicles earn coveted IIHS Top Safety Pick+ ratingMonday, August 12, 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests vehicles in various situations to see just how safe they are. For the Top Safety Pick+ designation, a vehicle is rated as good, acceptable, marginal or poor on its performance in rollover, rear, side and moderate-overlap frontal impacts.

The most recent vehicles to be added to the coveted Top Safety Pick+ list are the 2013 Dodge Dart and Hyundai Elantra sedan. With more than 60 available safety and security features, which include 10 standard-equipment airbags, it's no wonder the Dart was named one of the safest cars on the road.

"We are very pleased that the Dart has earned a Top Safety Pick+ designation," said Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO Dodge Brand. "In addition to its solid structure – the Dart's 68-percent high-strength-steel content ratio is one of the highest in the industry – the Dart boasts more than 60 safety and security features. They include 10 standard air bags, which is unsurpassed in the compact car segment."

While Top Safety Pick+ vehicles are already the safest around, owners might want to add a little protection to their interiors. Husky Liners® car floor mats will ensure an interior stays safe from stains and spills.
