Silverado named the best truck, edging out the 1500Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Category:Car Enthusiast Talk

Consumer Reports recently pit the Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 1500 against each other, and while they admit both are great choices for consumers, they had to pick a winner.

According to the source, the Silverado is a better truck overall. However, for everyday use, the Ram 1500 is a little more practical.

"The reality is that you can't go wrong with either one," said Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports. "Both are capable trucks that get decent gas mileage and are as quiet inside as a good luxury car."

However, Consumer Reports gave the edge to the Silverado primarily because it has a larger bed, it can tow a heavier trailer and it has a better payload capacity. In addition, the report noted that the Silverado's tailgate is easier to use, as it has steps to climb up and a lower step-in height.

The Ram 1500 might not get the towing capacity of the Silverado, but for those who don't need all that power, it might be the right choice. Consumer Reports said the vehicle had a nicer interior, more practical control layout and a better back seat.

No matter what truck a person owns, the fact of the matter is vehicles in this segment tend to take a beating. Whether a driver is taking the kids to school or pulling another car out of a ditch, trucks can benefit from some added protection. Husky Liners® mud guards are ideal for ensuring the exterior of a truck doesn't get nicked up from debris flying up from the wheels.

Husky Liners® also are an ideal product for protecting the interiors of cars and trucks as well. Custom fit floor mats will install seamlessly into a vehicle and keep its interior clean.
