A car is likely the second-largest purchase you will make in your lifetime, behind a home, and as a result, you are probably hoping to get the most money for it when you decide to sell it. With that being said, there are a number of things you can do to improve your chances of getting the most for your ride. Kelley Blue Book offered some advice for owners considering selling their vehicles. 

"Whether you are looking to offload your car quickly or if you'd rather wait until you get the best possible offer, it is smart to start with a little preparation," said Jack Nerad, executive editorial director for Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com. "Selling a car doesn't have to be a stressful or difficult experience."

Get your documents in order
While many car owners might wait until the last second to get their vehicle's paperwork together, it's a better idea to do this sooner rather than later. Be sure to have the car's title, original sales documents and service records on hand; then you'll be ready to sell. 

Improve the resale value
There are a number of ways in which you can improve the resale value of your vehicle. Be sure that the car looks to be in the most pristine condition possible when selling. Fix any broken lights or cracks in the windshield. It's also a great idea to get Husky Liners® car floor mats. Not only will these make a car look more appealing when you are showing it to potential buyers, but they will also preserve the value of a car until you are ready to sell. 

Eye-popping advertisements are important
A separate report by Edmunds.com highlighted the importance of creating ads that sell. While your ad should include year, make, model, trim, mileage, color and condition, you will also want to post photos. A professional photo can go a long way to getting a buyer to bite.
