KBB releases list of the coolest carsMonday, June 24, 2013

Category:Car Enthusiast Talk

Are you looking for a cool car? Well, you are in luck.

Kelley Blue Book recently released its list of the 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000 of 2013. The list was compiled by KBB editors and highlights affordable vehicles that also exude the cool factor, which accounts for two criteria: They are fun to drive and fun to own. This year, the No. 1 coolest car was the 2013 Hyundai Veloster.

"Quite frankly, automakers keep making it easier to pay them less," said Jack Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book's "While many inexpensive cars are decidedly uncool, the world's manufacturers are putting more personality and distinction into their lower-priced offerings. Not only have small cars never looked so good, but they have also never been more filled with cool content. Take the Hyundai Veloster that is No. 1 on our list this year because of its highly unique exterior design coupled with a stylish and tech-laden interior."

Following the Veloster in the order they appear on the list was the Ford Focus, Kia Soul, Honda Fit, Dodge Dart, Mazda 3, Fiat 500, Volkswagen Jetta, Honda Civic and Chevrolet Spark. Each of these vehicles is available for less than $18,000. Anyone who owns one of these cars or plans to buy one can make them even cooler with Husky Liners® vehicle floor mats

Kia celebrates being cool
Kia recently issued a release celebrating the Soul's appearance on the list of the 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000 2013. As the Soul is known to be the top-selling urban passenger vehicle and features a bold design, lots of room and high-tech offerings, it's no wonder it was featured near the top of the list.

"The Soul, which paved the way for Kia's design led transformation with its fun and funky personality, quickly established a reputation as the spunkiest car in the Kia lineup, and now KBB has recognized it as one of the coolest vehicles on the market," said Michael Sprague, executive vice president, marketing and communications, KMA. "Kia has always strived to provide customers with value, style and substance, and the Soul fulfills that promise with an extensive roster of standard features and unique design that has become iconic."

Editors named the Soul No. 3 on the list of the coolest cars around, and the automaker agrees the vehicle is fun to drive and own.

Nerad said the Soul was born in 2010 and received an update in 2012, but was still able to remain cool the entire time. He also noted that with its standard equipment list, which includes Bluetooth phone connectivity, an auxiliary audio input and iPod integration, it was sure to be named on of the coolest cars around.

Chrysler also happy to be cool
Chrysler also released a report celebrating its Dodge Dart and Fiat 500 being featured on the list of the coolest cars for multiple years running.

"Making's list of the 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000 for multiple years running is confirmation that both the Dodge Dart and Fiat 500 continue to break the mold," said Reid Bigland, head of U.S. Sales, Chrysler Group. "Combining state-of-the-art technology with sleek styling, both vehicles up their 'cool-factor' without sacrifice."

The automaker said the Dodge Dart was featured on the list for the second consecutive year and the Fiat 500 has now made it on the list for three years running. The Dart features state-of-the-art technology, class leading features and is priced at $15,995. The 500 offers a city-friendly design, modern styling and is priced at $16,000.
