June has always been a time to celebrate the outdoors, but this year it is official.
President Barack Obama, along with governors from 40 states, have proclaimed that June is Great Outdoors Month. Whether Americans are celebrating in their backyard or with a trek across the country, the proclamations encourage families to get outside and enjoy themselves.
When President Bill Clinton was in office in 1998, he began Great Outdoors Week, then in 2004, President George Bush named the entire month of June as Great Outdoors month. Since then, presidential proclamations have been made each year, encouraging Americans to visit shared outdoor resources like forests, parks, refuges, and other public lands and waters.
With the Great Outdoors Month approaching, Americans should be sure they are ready for anything they might need, including sunscreen or a fishing rod. It is also a good idea for those hitting the road to equip their cars with Husky Liners® vehicle floor mats. As the summer months tend to be harder on a car's interior, these liners will ensure stains stay off the carpet and on the floor mat.
