Guinness World Record issued for Largest Parade of Subaru CarsThursday, July 25, 2013

Category:Car Enthusiast Talk

Subaru recently announced that it has set a Guinness World Record for the Largest Parade of Subaru Cars.

The automaker held the parade on July 13, when 371 Subaru owners drove their vehicles in straight line Itasca, Ill. As a part of the world record, Subaru donated $5,000 to PAWS Chicago and another $5,000 to Salute Inc.

If you can believe it or not, Subaru was the previous holder of the Largest Parade of Subaru Cars, when it featured a 399 vehicles parading 4.2 miles in Illinois in 2009. This year, company officials were proud to beat out the old record, not to mention help charities while doing so.

"This year we had 371 Subaru vehicles and even more attendees join us on this special day," said Tom Gehrke, regional manager for Subaru of America. "Attendees expressed that participating in a Guinness World Records record was one of the items on their 'life list' and they were thrilled to be able to check this item off of their lists. The best part of the event was being able to support the efforts of Salute Inc. and PAWS Chicago."

The charity organizations were also thrilled Subaru was able to beat out its old record. Mary Beth Beiersdorf, founder and executive director, Salute Inc., said they are very grateful for the event, as corporate support is essential to the organization. In addition, Rochelle Michalek, executive director PAWS Chicago, said that they would like congratulate Subaru on its record-setting accomplishment. She added they were proud to be a part of the event and that they would like to say thanks for the generous donation, which will help save the lives of many homeless pets.

Could it have been considered the safest car parade ever?
Subaru models are top in safety, as every vehicle the automaker has put out has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, begging the question, "Was this parade the safest car parade in history?"

Most recently the Subaru Forester was given the coveted Top Safety Pick+ designation, making it one of the safest cars ever to hit the streets.

"Safety is one of our brand tenets and so we are extremely proud to have earned a TSP+ rating for Forester and a third Top Safety Pick+ rating for our brand," said Thomas Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America. "The Forester is the most award-winning small SUV in America, and now we have another designation for this venerable vehicle."

While the car might be safe from accidents, its interior isn't safe from spills and stains. Those looking for a little added protection to the interior of their vehicle are encouraged to equip it with Husky Liners® car floor mats.
