After a 40 year partnership, Cummins has built its 2 millionth Ram Diesel for Chrysler.
The Cummins Ram has the same 350 horsepower, 6.7 liter, in-line 6-cylinder turbo diesel engine, the only difference is that the it features a "Cummins Red" rocker cover and breather. The 2 millionth Ram, however, will not hit the streets for sale, it will go on display, touring the United States.
"The Ram Truck-Cummins diesel partnership is one of the industry's most enduring and certainly fitting of such a tribute," said Fred Diaz, president and CEO – Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico. "Both companies have benefited greatly, but Ram diesel customers are the real beneficiaries. Every day they experience the toughness and capability a Cummins-powered Ram can deliver."
The Cummins Ram boasts best-in-class torque and a 10 percent fuel economy increase when compared to non-diesel Rams, smart exhaust brakes for a smoother ride and best-in-class 15,000 mile oil change interval. Truck owners are encouraged to outfit their vehicles with Husky Liners® cargo floor mats to protect a car's interior no matter how rugged the job.
This was not the only recent announcement about Ram trucks either. Motor Trend Magazine recently named the 2013 Ram 1500 the Truck of the Year based on its air suspension, choice of engines, variety of trim levels and towing capability.
