Bosch spark plugs named a favoriteFriday, September 28, 2012

Category:Car Enthusiast Talk

Readers of Popular Mechanics magazine recently voted Bosch Spark Plugs as the favorite spark plug brand on the market in the magazine's 2012 Reader's Choice Awards.

This marks the third straight year that the brand has received the honor from readers of the magazine.

Spark plugs are used to deliver electric current from an ignition system to the combustion chamber of a spark-ignition engine to ignite the compressed fuel and air mixture by an electric spark.

There were more than 3,100 participants in the poll, which selected Bosch out of 10 other competing brands.

"Popular Mechanics readers demand quality and performance in any product they install," said Bill Congdon, publisher and chief revenue officer for publisher Popular Mechanics. "They are very savvy when it comes to their automobiles, and often are turned to for automotive advice by their neighbors, friends and family. We congratulate Bosch for this honor."

Bosch was the first company to introduce the first commercially viable high voltage spark plug in 1902, managing to develop the concept of heat ranges for spark plugs, which is still used universally. The spark plug company also introduced the first copper core and platinum plug.

"Bosch spark plugs provide the motorist with real performance that will contribute to easy starting, improved acceleration, and good fuel economy for tens of thousands of miles," said Mark Wilkinson, group product manager of spark plugs for Bosch in North America.

The company has also matched spark plugs to individual automobile models in the replacement market, becoming the most dependable brand for the auto part in the car industry.

Americans should make sure that their spark plugs have been checked before the winter arrives, which could make it much more difficult to repair considering the cold weather. Auto experts also recommend other tips that could help with keeping a car in the best shape during the winter months, including keeping the exterior and interior clean.

What's under the hood isn't the only thing car and truck owners should worry about. Keeping the inside of your vehicle clean and free of clutter should also be a priority, and a good way to accomplish this is with heavy duty car floor mats from Husky Liners®.
