Ford is now offering a 2014 F-150 STC SuperCrew and STX Sport package to its fleet. Shoppers will notice a little more room in the cab and some new options.
"With the rapidly expanding full-size pickup market continuing to benefit from economic growth and replacement demand, price-conscious buyers are returning looking for an affordable truck with space, capability and style," said Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager. "Adding the Ford F-150 STX SuperCrew and the new STX Sport Package to our 2014 lineup gives these truck shoppers more value-oriented F-150 models to consider."
The automaker said that with the addition of the SuperCrew, customers can now choose from a full range of cab options. The F-150 STX comes with a 3.7 liter V6 engine, which gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg highway and 17 mpg city. The truck features four doors and additional cab space.
Crew cab trucks winning over buyers
American truck buyers today want crew cab pickup trucks more than they want extended cabs. TruckTrend.com recently reported that it's likely because of the added space in crew cabs.
"As far as cab layouts are concerned, the hottest segment of the pickup truck market is the crew cab," reads the report. "While the numbers vary based on manufacturer, crew cabs typically make up nearly 60 percent of half-ton and compact/midsize truck sales. Crew cabs offer more interior space than extended cabs do, and it's easier to access gear and get into and out of the back - especially when the truck is parked near a post or another vehicle."
Automakers have already made strides to do away with extended cabs as the consumers have spoken. The Toyota Tundra doesn't offer an extended cab, the Ram 1500 only offers a Double Cab or Crew Max, and Chevrolet and GMC have already totally phased them out. As cabs are becoming more accommodating these days, consumers are likely looking for ways to protect their spacious interiors.
Floor mats preserve the value of a cab
Husky Liners® cargo floor mats are perfect for truck owners. Whether they are on site at a job or just taking the family out to dinner, these mats will ensure a cab stays protected from spills and stains. Any liquid stays on top of the liner - and out of a truck's crevices - for any easy clean.
