The second to last race in the 2012 Chase for the Sprint Cup is this coming weekend at Phoenix International Raceway in the latest NASCAR news today, as more than 100,000 fans are expected to show up for the race.

The track has recently undergone renovations and is ready for what is already a huge race.

“Last year we made a commitment to NASCAR and the drivers to groom the race surface for three races using the tire rotator machine,” said Bryan Sperber, president of Phoenix International Speedway. “This weekend we completed the last installment of the process and look forward to presenting a championship surface for the AdvoCare 500.”

Jimmie Johnson is currently in First for the Chase for the Sprint Cup, leading Brad Keselowski by seven points. Johnson recently extended his two point lead on Keselowski after winning the last race at Texas Motor Speedway last weekend.

Johnson's average finish in Phoenix is 5.3, accounting for the best in the track's hisotry. Keselowski, on the other hand, has an average finish of 22.2 at the track. When the two raced the track earlier last Spring, Johnson finished fourth, while Keselowski came in fifth.
