KBB releases shopper loyalty for Q1

Friday, May 10, 2013

Kelley Blue Books recently released its report on shopper loyalty, investigating new car shoppers' intentions on purchasing their next vehicle.

The report once again placed Toyota in the top spot, accounting for the sixth consecutive quarter the automaker has topped the list. The data showed that 53.6 percent of Toyota car owners in the market for a new vehicle were considering purchasing another Toyota.

"Toyota's esteemed stance as the leading automaker in KBB.com shopper loyalty continues into Q1 2013 with help from the recently redesigned 2013 RAV4," said Akshay Anand, Kelley Blue Book Insights analyst. "For those shoppers interested in a full-size sedan, Toyota also saw a surge of shopper interest to its redesigned 2013 Avalon, showcasing the brand's positive response from consumers with its updated styling and features."

However, the real success story of the latest KBB report was customer loyalty toward Subaru vehicles. The automaker finished in the No. 3 position during the fist quarter of 2013, accounting for the for the first time it has been among the top three since the fourth quarter of 2009.

"As current Subaru owners prepare to off-load their current vehicle, it is easy to reconsider the brand as it offers a diverse lineup, including models that not only appeal to the everyday shopper like the all-new 2014 Forester, but also a sportier option like the BRZ," said Anand. "With Subaru's first-ever hybrid vehicle arriving at dealerships in Q4 2013, the 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid is expected to help the brand retain even more shoppers as its portfolio expands into hybrid technology."

Coming in second was Honda, then Subaru, followed by Ford, Lexus, Hyundai, Kia, Chevrolet, Audi and Porsche. Any new car shopper should do themselves a favor and install Husky Liners® custom fit floor mats into these new vehicles to keep their interiors clean.
2014 Subaru Forester named Top Safety Pick
Earlier this year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2014 Subaru Forester as a Top Safety Pick, meaning it is one of the safest cars on the market.
The designation comes as no surprise for the automaker, as Subaru has every one of its models is featured as a Top Safety Pick. Shiro Ohta, president of Subaru Canada, said that safety is always top of mind as Subaru looks to offer peace of mind while behind the wheel.
It appears the message is resonating with new car shoppers, as consumer loyalty has increased for the brand.
